what is ayurvedic wellness

Ayurveda is the creative science of living a healthy and meaningful life.

The word Ayurvedic describes the type of holistic approach to wellness that we practice here at Yogini Bloom.  It means that the techniques and teachings we use come from a 5,000 year old system of natural healing called “Ayurveda.”

Ayurveda is about empowering you to take back control of your health, and giving you the ground you need to make healthy decisions.

Ayurveda is a complete system of medicine in India - with hospitals, surgeons, clinics and pharmacies.  But here in the United States we use it to compliment the western medical advise that you get from your primary care physician.  For example, you may find out from your doctor that you have colitis (inflammation of the colon), and so we will work with yoga positions, herbs, food, and breathing techniques that specifically target the health of the colon.  We restore the body’s organs from the inside, with remedies that have no harmful side effects.  Our goal is to bring lasting relief by treating the root cause, as opposed to a temporary fix.

Ayurveda views health as a combination of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aliveness.  At Yogini Bloom, we look at the body as much more than flesh and bones.  We believe diet, exercise, emotional clarity, career fulfillment and creativity are all important aspects of your wellbeing.  We use yoga postures, breath awareness, meditation, food, herbs, and seasonal cleansing, to address the root cause of illness.
